HI ` WELCOME

As you can tell ( I am sure) This is a new site and needs a lot of work.   As time allows, I am adding to
it.  As I write this in early March.  Snow is again all over the ground.  BUT it will soon be time for
plants to green here  (Western NY Zone 6)
I have talked about some of our goals in other places in this site,  but feel I need to add some more
information.  By the way this isn't a one way gardening outlet.  I really want to hear from you so if you
click on the "ContactUs" button you can " talk" to me.  I have been in the Hort.. business and I mean
actively for 45 years.  Don't worry if you haven't "learned it all" yet, I discover new gardening things
every day.  I think that, is one of the big attractions of gardening.
Although I still Landscape for customers, I get a lot of my current experience from our large garden ,
my wife and I have at
Eagle Bay.  I know a lot of what you see here is , all about hosta, in the
garden, But, we have many themes and grow all kinds of plants.  We
concentrate on the less well known plants and plant groups.  If you
decide to visit sometime, you can expect to see everything from  high
mountain ( Alpine) plants to Arid  (desert)  flora  and some darn rare
                                                   Trees, shrubs & Perennials.   Our
garden is an integrated series of
                                                    "theme" areas and plant groups.
You can walk through a series of
"Alpine" areas or Hike to our small "desert" .  You may want to
walk through the displays of over 2000 named varieties of Hosta,
or you can walk out to our peninsula filled with rare plants of all
                                                    kinds.

Several  years ago we built a lake and in that an Island  This year
we hope to get started on the gardens out there. The whole island
will be devoted to a "tropical" theme.  And (we hope) will feel like a walk in a tropical forest.   I am also
working on a new and much larger "desert".  This area will eventually house our over 200 varieties
(and growing) of Cactus and many succulent plants.  It will have a small canyon to hike through.  My
wife (Katie) and I work every year to add some really unique areas and this will continue as long as
we can.
Future plans are for a nature walk ( to a remote and wild pond).  Water ponds with associated plants
and  waterfalls.
And much more!
A
lot of our summer fun , is having visitors at the garden.  This is a daily event during the high points
at the garden.  From mid June to mid August.  We host a constant stream of tours and individual
visitors.  The gardens are
Free , however we will be happy to sell you a rare plant or two!
Remember, We have picnic tables for large and small groups, a grill and a modern restroom.  It is
always a good idea to let us know if you want to use the picnic grounds as we try not to have more
folks  than space allows.  You won't have to reserve the restroom ~~~ Just take turns!

This year we will host the Eastern Rhododendron  Society the Genesee Valley Rock Garden Society
and the Western NY Hosta Society and others.
The Western NY Hosta Society  Annual Picnic, will be held at the garden on Sunday August 17.
The fun starts at 11:00 Am and will feature garden talks in tents around the garden.  Disserts wil be
served at each tent. A plant auction will follow the talks.
Want to join the fun?  Just bring a dish to
pass,  some little thing for the auction , and a smile.   You can get info. on the Western NY Hosta
Society at

We look forward to seeing you in 08.
